What’s Included in a Batmaid Cleaning

Discover what is included in a standard Batmaid cleaning, what is excluded and how to prepare for your cleaning.

Written by Stephane Journot

Every home is different, and so is every idea of what "clean" actually means. Some people want a quick refresh of the essentials before guests arrive; others want every shelf, cupboard and windowsill attended to. Batmaid's standard cleaning is designed to cover the everyday essentials well, while leaving room to tailor the visit to what actually matters to you.

This article covers what's included by default, what falls outside the standard scope, and how to set your agent up for a visit that matches your expectations.

What is covered by default?

By default, your Batmaid Cleaning Agent cleans the living room, common areas, kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms, at a rate of roughly 30 square metres per hour. Giving your Batmaid Cleaning Agent specific instructions helps them prioritise tasks within the time booked.

Your budget and quality expectations shape how a cleaning is defined in practice: for example, whether every room needs to be cleaned at each visit, or whether some rooms can be rotated across visits. This affects both how often you book and how many hours you allocate, so it's worth thinking through before your first cleaning.

What is not included?

Standard cleaning does not cover:

  • Hazardous materials or biohazards

  • Insect or mold removal

  • Industrial-scale deep cleaning

  • Appliance repairs

  • Unsafe outdoor work, such as roofs or unguarded balconies

  • Childcare, eldercare, petcare or supervision

  • Moving objects beyond the Batmaid Cleaning Agent's lifting limits (5kg alone, 10kg if it can be slid on the ground)

Some activities that fall outside the standard scope may still be arranged. Depending on the activity, they can be added as a paid extra, specified in the Checklist, or discussed with Customer Support. For more complex or recurring needs, they may be managed through Batmaid's Business team. For any clarification or request that falls outside the standard scope, please contact Customer Support, who can advise on the available options.

How should you get ready for your cleaning?

You don't have to be home during a cleaning, but you do need to decide in advance how your Batmaid Cleaning Agent will get access: in person, mailbox, doormat, with a neighbour, or another arrangement: and communicate this clearly beforehand.

For your first cleaning, though, we strongly recommend being present to welcome your Batmaid Cleaning Agent. It's a chance to show them around the space, point out anything that needs special attention, and walk through your expectations in detail. Getting this alignment right at the start makes every cleaning onwards smoother.

Since Batmaid Cleaning Agents don't bring their own cleaning products or materials, make sure these are available at the property, and leave any specific instructions or priorities for the visit.

  • What should I prepare before the cleaning?

You don't have to be home, but decide in advance how your Batmaid Cleaning Agent will get access (in person, mailbox, doormat, neighbour, etc.) and communicate this clearly to them. For the first cleaning, however, we strongly recommend being present to welcome your Batmaid Cleaning Agent. This gives you the opportunity to show them around the different spaces, point out any areas that need special attention, and discuss your cleaning expectations in detail. Establishing this understanding from the start helps ensure the service matches your needs and sets the foundation for a smooth working relationship going forward. To strengthen this understanding of mutual expectation, we invite you to fill in your Checklist.

Lastly, since Batmaid Cleaning Agents do not bring cleaning products or materials, make sure these are available, and leave any specific instructions or priorities for the visit.
